Original Artwork "Simpson Road Barn", a photo painting by Doris Wilbur-Artist. I came across this old barn on Simpson Road in McDonough, NY. The Simpson family is well known in the area and the road was named after them although I don't think this was one of their barns. I just liked the character of this old building which must be well over 100 yrs old. The print is made with the finest quality archival materials, state of the art printing inks and heavy acid free paper. It has a white border around the artwork and is intended to be framed 11"x14". You can frame it as is or add a mat.
I am working now with reference photos I have taken over the years. I adjust them in Photoshop and print that out. Then, I alter the print with pastel pencil and watercolor paint. Next, I scan that work and then create a finished, archival print. I call them "Photo Paintings" because they are a combination of photography and hand artwork. It has allowed me at over age 80, with arthritis in my hands, to keep creating art.
Your print will come with a foamcore backing board, a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity and a clear protective sleeve. Each print is a Limited Edition and is numbered with a maximum of 250 in the edition. When I reach that number no more prints are made. That makes each print more valuable.
I was raised on a dairy farm and have a special connection to barns and rural landscapes. I appreciate all the hand hewn beams and unique architecture and character these old buildings have. Imagine the labor and time it took to raise these large buildings years before we had all the modern machinery we have now. Think of all the life and activity that they housed. We are losing so many of these historical buildings each year to age and weather. I continue to make paintings of as many as I can before they are gone.
